Highly valuable

Essential little book...I only wish it contained more words.

Great Book for People Returning HomeReturning from an extended period in a foreign country can be a difficult experience. This book describes problems you can fall into, and how to avoid them.
It talks about how people fail to notice you've even been gone. Or don't seem to care that much what you did. When you understand these are common experiences, it helps those problems become a lot less personal.
Overall, we've applied the principles of this book, and haven't experienced most of the 'reverse culture shock' that many do. And we've been home nearly a year now, so we'll probably do okay.
Good book to give a returning, or retiring missionary, as a gift.

Chamberlain's "20th Maine" had a double!

Penny Jordan is one of the best Harlequin writers...Her career in London had come to a sudden stop because she had been unwilling to engage in an affair, so her ailing mother's need was reason enough to run home.
The last thing she wanted was to see Dominic Savage. She disliked and despised him. But in the end that proved poor protection against his desires and her own needs.
Like all other penny jordan books, this one is excellent! but im only giving it a 4 because 5 are reserve for my favorites (like payment in love). Penny jordan is one of my favorite harlequin presents author. actually, she's the best harlequin author in my opinion! i especially like her books that have plots involving the guy being secretly in love with the heroine right from the start.

The Historical Record of the Hysterical Records

Good Book

EXCELLENT INSIGHT FOR A SPORTS LOVING FAN.

Outstanding yet ultimately incomplete treatiseThis book is a tour-de-force critique of constitutions. It recognizes them for what they are and nothing more. The book could have been a bit longer, with more specific examples: but perhaps the author would feel it would expose the inherent weakness in his argument. Some countries are more free than others - why? Does it have anything to do with written constitutions? Moral constitutions and cultural restrictions? The force of the people? De Jasay's analysis could have been complemented with an in-depth Public Choice analysis of how politics actually works, rather than a blanket statement denying any effect of constitutions. Even if de Jasay is right about all his points, his lack of perspectives makes the book seem like shoddy scholarship and philosophical ranting at times.
Read this book if you want to understand some of the inherent problems with the idea of constitutional government, then ask yourself why de Jasay is wrong if you think he is. The writing in this book can be pessimistic and nearly lifeless, but several arguments are strong and insightful. It is an important piece of anarchist/libertarian literature and should not be overlooked.

a long awaited guide
