Perfect Night (The Crightons)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (May, 1900)

More Perfection from Penny Jordan
More perfection from Penny Jordan in The Perfect Night. Once again, Ms. Jordan leaves us begging for more. Can't wait for the next one!

In the continuing saga of the Crightons, we get to know Katie Crighton and Sebastian Cooke. Katie works in the family law firm and Sebastian is a client who almost runs her over. Not a great way to start a relationship! Katie believes she's in love with Gareth, who just happens to be married to her twin sister Louise. What does it take to make her realize that true love is right next door?

Simply Fabulous
Penny Jordan delivers another breath-taking book in this continuation of the series "The Crightons". Two distantly related members of the Crighton family, Kate Crighton(who is a Crighton) and Sebastian Cooke(whose cousin married a Crighton) meet for the first time, not very surprising considering the fact that in this whole series, Crightons seem to be popping all over the place, being such a large family. Their first meeting is not a pleasant one, with Sebastian's car almost hitting Kate, who happened to be walking on the road. With an instant dislike on both sides, they were none too pleased to find they were related. But the main essence of the story is finding out that they are neighbors (both of them, new-comers to the town, having moved into the same apartment complex). In spite of all the hostility, the undeniable attraction between them ensures a happy ending. The main plus points of the book are the flaming passion between the main characters, and the sometimes humorous portrayal of the match-making family. A good book if I ever read one.

Wonderful!
This is a perfect book for a young child. The bright, bold photographs of children playing in the park brought smiles and giggles to my 18-month-old son. There's just the right amount of text on each page to keep a toddler interested, and the rhythmic prose allowed us to act it out as we read.

PLAY BALL.....IT'S FUN........
THIS LITTLE STORY IS A BRIGHT AND ENGAGING EXPERIENCE FOR VERY YOUNG CHILDREN. THE HAPPY, ACTIVE BOYS AND GIRLS ON ITS PAGES, THE CHARMING 'STORY' LINE, AND THE VIBRANT COLORS USED, MAKE IT A BOOK THAT YOUNG CHILDREN WILL LOVE. AND,IT IS A BOOK THEY WILL BE ABLE TO 'READ' BY THEMSELVES AGAIN AND AGAIN. THIS DEFINITELY IS A BOOK TO GIVE ALONG WITH A GIFT FOR A NEW BABY, OR FOR A GRANDMOTHER TO HAVE FOR VISITORS WHO LOVES TO BE READ TO.

Polenta: 100 Innovative Recipes from Appetizers to Desserts

Incredibly creative ways with polenta
If we don't eat Tomato Polenta Tart several times during the summer, life is just not right. But there was a time when I wondered what was so special about this gluey mass of flavorless stuff. Here in the Wine Country of No. CA it seemed to pop up on plates frequently...a sort of thoughtless addendum to an otherwise great dinner. But then Michele Anna Jordan and her book on the subject came my way and my eyes were opened to all sorts of possibilities. As in all her books, Michele delves into a wonderful overview of the subject, including basic history as well as little known facts. In this particular book, we are blessed with 21 pages of her exquisite prose. And then the recipes..... Orange Scented Duck with Olives and Polenta, Italian Shepherds Pie, Baked Summer Tomatoes filled with Polenta, even four variations of Polenta Poundcake. Need I say more? Now if I don't have polenta in my pantry and Michele on my bookshelf, something is wrong!!

the encyclopedia of polenta
Having lived in Northern Italy for several years I had tried what I thought was every possible way that polenta could be prepared and in every possible dish. I returned to the States thinking I was addicted to polenta. It was and is for me what rice is to the Chinese. I cook and enjoy polenta a couple of times each week. I thought I knew all there was to know about polenta until I discovered Michelle Jordan's book. I'm now enjoying polenta in ways I was not aware of despite considering myself an aficionado. The narratives that accompany her recipes are informative and interesting. A great addition to my cook book collection. Makes me want to go back to Italy and have polenta on location again. Mille grazie.

Rainbow Jordan
Published in Hardcover by Peter Smith Pub (June, 1999)
Author: Alice Childress
Average review score:

Better than her first book, I think.
Alice Childress's second novel for children, and written in the same sort of Harlemese as A Hero Ain't Nothin' But a Sandwich, this is the story of fourteen-year-old Rainbow Jordan. Her single mother, Kathie, is a go-go dancer and flighty. Every couple of weeks she'll take off on a gig and leave Rainbow alone in their apartment. Usually when this happens Rainbow goes to say with Miss Josie, her foster mother, who cares a lot about Rainbow but is preoccupied with the breakup of her twenty-year marriage. On the street Rainbow's got a girlfriend, Beryl, who earns spending money with casual prostitution, and a boyfriend, Eljay, who keeps pressuring her to go all the way.

The story is told from three points of view: Kathie, Rainbow, and Miss Josie. Kathie does love her daughter in her own way, but as Rainbow says, "her way don't weigh much". A good example of this is when Kathie went out and bought Rainbow some new, pretty clothes. But she had to use the babysitter money to pay for them, and because of this she had to leave Rainbow, then five years old, alone in the house for several hours. Miss Josie on the other hand cares about Rainbow in a much more mature way. Rainbow thinks little of either of them.

I thought A Hero Ain't Nothin' But a Sandwich was good, but I think I liked Rainbow Jordan better. The situations in the book -- irresponsible parents, boyfriends that keep nagging you to have sex with them, men that abandon their families -- are real and just as applicable today as they were back in 1982 when the book was written.

Rainbow Jordan by Alice Childress
This book is very good for teens to read. This will allow them to see that maybe they are not alone in their journey also it will allow other children who are blessed to have good parents to see how it could be. I'd recommend this book to be read by everyone.

The Rough Guide to Jordan
Published in Paperback by Rough Guides (28 March, 2002)
Author: Matthew Teller
Average review score:

Excellent!!
This is more my style of guide book!! Excellent background information on archeological sites around Jordan with (considering it's a guide book) great info on Petra! Everything from the King's Highway to Wadi Rum is covered in thoughtful detail by an author who obviously did his homework. This book really sparks your interest in going to Jordan, and introduces the Bedouin and mainstream Jordanian culture to the reader well. Border crossings, visas, food, health, transportation... it's all in here. LP and Let's Go guides should learn a thing or two from this guide! It doesn't bog itself down with useless information like some other guide books do. Going to Jordan? Get this first!

A Detailed And Accurate Guide - Excellent
A detailed and accurate guide to all the main sites in Jordan. The informaton included is up to date and extensive, including chapters on travel, where to eat & stay, health, history, backgrounds on Islam, shopping & the media, along with much advice on local behaviour and attitudes.

Whilst in Jordan, I found this guide to be an invaluable tool to getting around and learning about local history and culture.

The attention to specific detail is extremely accurate and up to date.

A must for any first time traveller to this historic and beautiful country.

Salt and Pepper: 135 Perfectly Seasoned Recipes
Published in Hardcover by Broadway Books (20 April, 1999)
Authors: Michele Anna Jordan and Sallie Tisdale
Average review score:

Salt tap dances on your table, makes you blush with delight.
By just thumbing through this book for a few minutes, I realized that writing this book was a labor of love for the author. The recipes are magnificent and often unusual, showcasing the complexities of these two spices, ubiquitous to all our kitchens in the US. In addition, in true Jordan style, she researches her subject diligently and with passion. I felt almost ashamed for taking these two ingredients for granted. I have been a fan of Michele's cooking and writing for some time now, but in this book, she let's us see a little more of the person she is. In one of the most poignant vignettes I have ever read anywhere, she wrote about a recipe for Asian Limeade. "The first time I tried the real thing was ...in Borneo....geckos, the same green color as my limeade, scurried across the walls; I don't think I have ever felt so far from home." This is one great book, for the vignettes and for the recipes.

The salt of my cookbook shelf.
Michele Anna Jordan is a food writer for the reader. Her books are a road to travel in and around the subject, enticing one to rummage into spice cabinets, and through specialty stores and farmer's markets. If we can't hop on a plane to Malaysia, Michele will do her best to help us taste it. With Salt and Pepper, I found a welcoming mat for my pleasure of salt. There are no sneers across her pages as I reach for my sea salt to sprinkle more on my Edamame, or the Kosher flakes for my fresh summer tomatoes. "I love you more than salt" - that alone will be reason enough for me to bless each new wedding in my circle of friends with this book and a sampling of salt and spicy pepper!

A Secretary's Survival Manual
Published in Hardcover by Vantage Press (May, 2001)
Author: Lois Elaine Jordan
Average review score:

A Best Friend where you least expect Him...
The only way to survive office life is by having a Great Friend with a Grand Plan. OK, getting to know all the characters can be entertaining and those we cubicle vets know and "love" are well documented here, in the best of water cooler repartee. But the reality of office hierarchy is usually less than amusing. Lois has been there and back, but she's not been alone on her journey. She had the Ultimate Guide who kept her nose in the Book throughout each of her adventures and trials. As a fellow survivor, I invite you to try this book. Sit down and prepare yourself for laughing fits as well as sobs of recognition and conviction. But most of all, I invite you of little hope and even lesser respect in cubicle-land to meet (or reacquaint yourself with) Jesus Christ and the Bible. See how much He and His Word are truly with you always.

Funny, Factual and Inspiring!
A survival manual that applies to all working people. Using humor and bibilical emphasis, the reader is given insight and strength to endure the daily demands of the workplace.

Security Analysis and Portfolio Management
Published in Paperback by Pearson Education POD (03 January, 1995)
Authors: Donald E. Fischer and Ronald J. Jordan
Average review score:

A Comprehensive guide for beginners
The book gives a good overview of all the relevant topics without dwelving deep into the mathematical hypothesis on Sharpe's concepts and Black and Scholes model. This is the best book to start with for Security analysis and portfolio management, both for analysts and students

Good reading which will make the student money.
Using my own risk/reward model as applied to the projected benefits of purchasing this investement vehicle in education, and specifically forcasting a student's return (as salary) "n" yrs from the date of his/her investment, I can determine:

Given: n= yrs studying the text (assume 2); q= the IQ of the student (assume 120); c= inate charm factor, 1-5 (assume 3); w= probable inheritance (assume $15M); f= the propensity towrards fraud (85%);

Then, doing the math:

Salary = {[sqrt of f/(1+c/q x w)]n!}-3 = $85,436.52/year (until time of capture by police in 7.3 years for fraud)

If fraud factor is assumed to be less, but inheritance factor kicks in sooner, no need to buy this book.
